Thursday, November 15th

Here's what we did today: 

8A  - Today,  we looked at the impact scholars and philosophers had on the spread of ideas during the Renaissance. Review pages 57-59 if needed.

8C -  Today,  we watched a documentary about the history of the Renaissance and reviewed the concept of Worldview.

8G - Today,  we completed a quick formative quiz about how ideas spread throughout the Renaissance. We also talked about the concept of Humanism, that is valuing human life and worth (p. 55-56). Make sure that you are done questions 20-23 in your booklets.

9B - Today,  we talked about the consequences of the YCJA (p. 66-67). Tomorrow we will have a quick quiz when we enter class on what we know so far.

Important Dates coming up: 
Term 1 ends November 30th - ALL WORK FROM TERM 1 NEEDS TO BE TURNED IN BY NOVEMBER 23RD IN ORDER TO BE MARKED. 
Wednesday, December 5th - Early Dismissal
Friday, December 7th - PD Day No School

TGI... Friday, March 16th

Here's what we did today:  LA 8B  -  Today, we showcased our Genius Hour projects to the class. We completed a self-reflection on how we felt we did. We also started a research assignment (in pairs) for the novel we will start after Spring Break, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. LA 8E -   Today, we had our free reading block in the library and also spent a block working on our Genius Hour assignments. Please make sure they are complete for Tuesday. *You will NOT have class time on Monday. Social 9A  - Today, we completed a formative quiz on economics and started a case study assignment about the Canadian entertainment industry (On Google Classroom - due Monday).  Chapter 6 assessment - Wednesday, March 21st Italy's Election CE due MONDAY!    *Don't forget about Homeroom Wars on March 21st! Wednesday, May 22nd

Here's what happened today:  Social 8A and 8C:  Today, we read about how Japan responded to all the pressure to open their borders. Please review pages 177-179 if needed.  Social 8G:  Today, we talked about the strict roles in Japanese society, including the samurai code of Bushido.  Social  9B:  Today, we continued watching the documentary film, Sicko, which presents some of the differences between public and private health care systems.  All Students: WEM Activity Day Permission Forms are now on Powerschool. Please fill out ASAP to ensure a spot!  Important Dates Coming Up: Friday, May 31st - Activity Day @ WEM Wednesday, June 5th - Early Dismissal and ALL CE DUE
